Melbourne Showgrounds

Last Monday, me and my friends decided to go to Melbourne Showgrounds. It wasn't really prepared, because at first we were planning to see a movie.

It turned out to be great, eventhough I did not dare to ride the rides, to be honest. So I just took some pictures and rode two rides. Haha. My friends spend time to play the games - just to get the dolls. I did not want to, because it's expensive and where would I put the dolls anyway?

It was so much fun - but was tiring as well.

Inside the Fed Square

My Principles and Elements class today went to Federation Square to see the gallery. The aim is to analyze the artworks, compare two different artworks and make a review. I had some pretty good times. There was also a shop at the Ground floor which you can find some interesting objects.

Miranda Kerr at David Jones

Today I met the Aussie supermodel and the wife of Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr.

So here's the story,
I woke up today with a feeling that I still have works to do. English report, production skill and design comm homeworks. It was so hard to get up from the bed. But then, I checked my phone. One new Twitter mention. It was from my friend, Sintong. He seemed so excited and told me that Miranda Kerr's gonna have an appearance in Melbourne. Miranda's promoting her organic products, KORA. I actually already knew that. But then Sintong reminded me.

So I texted my friend, Rika and told her that Miranda Kerr's gonna be at David Jones. It's not far from my apartment! So we decided to go at 1.30pm.

Unfortunately, to get a picture with Miranda and her signature, you have to buy her products. And you can guess, they are expensive and not so worth it for me. So I decided to just see her from the crowd. Here are the pictures that I took. Thank God, I got quite close! :)

She was so beautiful. I love her outfits, they fit her well!
Yeah I didn't get a picture with her, but at least I saw her real close anyway :)

Green Lantern

"In brightest day, in blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let all who worship evil's might
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!"

Another movie day! I've been going to the cinema once a week lately. Maybe I should stop, before I go bankrupt.

Yesterday I watched Green Lantern with my classmates, Rika, Ayu, Otto and Eric. The others were supposed to come, but they suddenly could not make it. So it was only the five of us.

Before I watched this movie, I checked it out in Rotten Tomatoes. The rate is so low and I was (sort of) shocked, because the trailer was sooo good. So the movie is supposed to be great. Some people also said that the movie's not nice. But I didn't care. I was curious. So I went and watched. Guess what, it ended up okay - not bad. I wouldn't say the movie's great, cause it's not. But I enjoyed it, it was good. That's what I think, though.

Sudden love with rings

I went to DFO last Sunday with my friend Rika. I shopped some very cheap clothes and accessories. I was literally a bit shock when I looked at the price. You can get a tanktop for $5 and a shirt for $10. Crazy.

Anyway, I passed this store named Equip. I just took a look around. Then I found a rack of finger rings. I thought, "Oh, I wanna get some of these." Then I wore them the next days and today. And I love it. I've never bought a finger ring before and now I'm in love. So today, I went to Diva and got two more rings (again). I just can't resist.

Key ring, Diva.
L to R: Leaf Bead ring, Diva; Leaf Spray Long Wrap ring, Equip; Acrylic Rose ring, Equip.

Confusion

DIY necklace made by Ahmad Fauzan

Do you know what it feels like when you want something to happen, but at the same time, you don't want it to happen?

I guess that describes how I feel right now.

I know I can't have it - or at least I know it is not for me. But there's a side of me that wants to have a go. Another side said, "Stop, don't".

Maybe I'm afraid. Not only because it's just different, but actually because I'm scared if similar thing would happen. Heartbroken. It's not the worst thing in the world, though. Losing a member of your family felt worse. But still, it hurts. And I don't want that to happen again. I'm scared. Maybe that's the reason why I often look down to common types lately. Maybe that's the reason why I'm confused between obsess, crush and love. Maybe that's the reason why I sniffed at something that I consider as bullshit lately.

But anyway,
As far as I know, it's not a big deal. Duh.

Self Potrait

I love doing homework currently. Not because of actually doing it, but because I'm doing my hobby.

The above picture is my self potrait. This is a Production Skill homework. We're studying about the human form, the movement. So I drew this by looking at myself in the mirror. It's quite hard, but I'm having fun anyway :)

Hello Melbourne!

Hi, sorry for not updating for such a long time.
As the title suggests, yes, I am in Melbourne. I just got here 2 weeks ago. I was busy arranging my new apartment, buying stuff and the university thing. That's why I havent got the chance to update my blog.

So yeah, I really like being here. I know it's winter and it's reaaally cold here. Not as cold as the other cold places, but if you compare with Jakarta's weather, it is very cold. I like the environment. It is crowded (in the city) but it is peaceful at the same time. I don't know why. Maybe it's just because I'm in a new environment so I get that effect.

It's easy to go anywhere here. Most of the time, I travel by tram or walk. There's a lot of pedestrians and it is very nice when you walk. And the city is designed to be like grids - so it is easier for me to remember the way to places.

I'm staying in a sharing apartment with my friend from GJIS, Elvira. She goes to Melbourne University whereas I go to RMIT. The apartment itself has a very good security and an excellent service (so far). The room is very clean and big enough for us.

I got a lot of friends in RMIT. My classmates are very nice. There are 3 that are from Indonesia. The others are from China, Korea, Sweden, Hong Kong and Taiwan. They're very friendly. And I really love being in the class. The teachers are really, really friendly. I cant describe how friendly they are.

The people in Melbourne are mostly very friendly. I say this based on the shopkeepers, cashiers, teachers, etc. They always smile to us which make me feel very welcomed. It seems like they understand how we, the international students, want to be treated in a foreign country.

Anyway,
My family - parents and brothers - left Melbourne yesterday. They've been staying here for 2 weeks. I didn't accompany them to the airport because I had a class yesterday. So I decided to stay a night in my parents' temporary apartment yesterday.

Yes, I was very sad. In fact, I am still sad. I am really not usual to live in a house without at least one member of my family. And now I have to live without any of them in a different city, different country, even in a different continent, separated by sea. But I have to cope with it, right?

Maybe this is the start of the real life. Learning how to live by yourself, away from your family. Learning how to manage your money. Learning how deal with problems without parents helping you. Learning how to survive. But I think, this is not the start. This is before the start. This is only the preparation for the real life.

At least it happened...

No, it's not actually something serious.

But I think I just did it for the first time. For almost 2 years, I don't have any guts to talk. To actually have a talk. A small talk, at least.

I didn't even dare to look straight in the eyes. I was just scared. My feeling, the fear, the prejudice have hindered every possible chance that I could get easily. And now what, I'll leave this country in a month. And I just got the guts yesterday.

Well, at least, I finally talk. At least, I got a contact number. At least, he responded nicely. At least, I can talk again next time, without fear. At least, I discovered that that was the most beautiful pair of eyes I've ever seen directly. At least, it happened...

Empty

There I was, sitting on the same spot for the last 4 days.
Well, I have been studying, yes.
Maybe that's the reason why I feel a bit bored lately.
No, not bored because of the studying.
But because I have been on the same spot for the last 4 days.

I used to have a lot of plans when I was struggling in IB.
Things like: drawing, making films, writing, even playing games.
But I don't know why I'm not really interested in those thing, at least for today.

Another picture passed by my head.
Yeah, I am gonna leave this room soon.
This house.
Not going to see my family for several months.
How can I deal with that?

Looking back in my past,
I used to be that girl that want to leave the house and have my own life.
I was that girl who loves her friends so badly that I don't have any time with family.
And I did not care.

It's amazing how a person can change in a very short time.
I don't know what cause all this, but
I have become that family-girl that want to make her parents proud so badly.
I have become that girl that prioritize her family over her friends.

I am that girl that has a lot of goals and dreams to achieve.
It's all in my head.

But not today.
I am so unmotivated today.
I feel empty.
Not sure what the reason is.

Maybe I miss my friends in school.
I miss walking through the hall and move from class to class.
I miss queuing in the canteen
I miss stalking "the kids" with my friends.

I miss my art class.
The funnest class I've ever had.
All we do was just painting, drawing, making sculptures, cutting, etc.
Plus, the people in the class are very close to each other.

I also miss my ITGS class.
Hate to say this, but I would say it is the craziest class I've ever had.
No, not because of the subject itself.
Because of the people, there only 5 people, though.
We laugh a lot and it was fun.

Yes, maybe I feel empty because there is something missing...
Anyway, tomorrow's Saturday so I'll spend my time with my family :)
...Hopefully

Making decision is a big deal

First of all, I should've thank God, because I got two conditional offers. One from RMIT and one from Swinburne University.

Now it's time to make the decision.

Swinburne gives a conditional offer for February 2012 intake. RMIT gives a conditional offer for February 2012 intake either. However, the conditional is that I have to take the foundation on July 2011. That's real quick. I'm still confused with both. I really wanna go to RMIT. Not only because RMIT is one of the universities that I want to go to at the first place, but also I think by taking the foundation, I'll learn a lot before I actually got into the university. And also the foundation is only for International students. Which means, all the students around the world, who are not from Australia. So I think it'd be easier for me to adapt in that environment, since they're also still new.

However,
I'm gonna miss my dad, my mom, and my brothers a lot. Also my friends. But I'm gonna miss my family more than anything. I'm gonna miss my house. I'm gonna miss my room. I'm gonna miss how I wake up in Sunday morning and swim. I'm gonna miss how I watch American Idol with my family. I'm gonna miss going to cinemas together. I'm gonna miss the sound of my dad's car when he got home at night. I'm gonna miss how my mom accompany me when I buy clothes. I'm gonna miss helping my mom in the kitchen (eventhough I'm not really helping anyways). I'm gonna miss shouting at my brother in the morning when he's taking shower too long. I'm gonna miss spending my weekend with my family. Having lunch or dinner at Duck King. Or buying a lot of CDs.

Okay I have to stop here. If not, I'll burst into tears.

Now Or Never

"Say hi :)
You can do it!
It's now or never"

I told myself today. I even wrote it on my palm. But the opportunity didn't come to me today. Yes, now I regret that I always ignore a chance that came to me. I mean, you cannot repeat times. Once the chance went away, you have to find another...or just wait.

Wait. Yes, you could wait. But what if it doesn't pass your way? There. It's better if you find it. Search for it. Don't wait any longer. The clock is ticking. Don't wait until the time's up and you regret that you never get the chance.

Wait. Yes, that's what I do. I wait and wait and wait. Then opportunities passed by me. I chased it, but I didn't run. I walked instead. And it was all too late. The opportunities have gone. Don't do what I did, please. Learn from my experience, please. I will also learn from my own experience, and yours maybe?

When it passes by me, I wanna run, not walk.

I want to find, not wait.

No, not anymore.

The time's almost up. What if the time's up already and I never have the chance? That will never happen. Promise, Sharin.

It's now or never.

The Chance

Here I am, alone, in my room.

The smell of my perfume that I sprayed. The song played in my laptop. The books that I read. I have no idea why these things make me look backwards suddenly.

I look back. Looking back to what happened to me. Yes, this kid is the first thing that came up to my mind. The fact that this wonderful kid is just a hopeless dream, the fact that this kid still doesn’t want to let go his most precious yet poisonous flower and the fact that he let himself to be tortured... I really, really don’t know what to do about it. I even have no idea why I adore the kid this much. I mean, come on, he’s just a kid. He doesn’t know anything. He already got his favourite flower.

Oh yes, it was obviously because he seems to be a prince that comes out from a fairytale. That is why he is still here for almost 2 years. He is very visible to me, however I am invisible to him. Duh. Of course. He’s just a kid. What can he see?

I’ve tried to let go. I’ve tried to wave my hand and say, “so long!”. I’ve tried to create a brand new dream. Yes. I know I can do this. I’m starting to learn to see surroundings not by its cover. I found it. Or at least I think I found it, because I am not sure. But wait. Why am I feeling like I have two sides in my soul? One side says, “That’s it! There’s more hope. Don’t torture yourself anymore, Sharin”, but the other says “No, no. It might gives you hope, but it just doesn’t feel right”. I’m in a dilemma. So I ignore the thoughts about it. I decided to take a rest, to make it empty.

I told everyone that this kid is a ‘no more’, while actually I ‘still’ but I am ‘trying not to’. I thought I would feel better. But I was completely wrong.  I felt like there’s something missing. What is it?

An unexpected news came to my ears. I thought this just make everything worse. And honestly, I had no idea why I was annoyed by the news. Not really annoyed, but there’s some kind of regret deep inside me. I almost cried literally, but I told myself that I shouldn’t. I knew that it was all my  fault. I never try to find a chance. And when a chance is right in front of my eyes, I just ignore it. I just let it go. Away to the deepest Earth core.
I was confused why this news made me feel so unmotivated.

Then I just realized. I looked back again. Back to where it was all started. The wonderful kid already has his flower at the beginning of the book. And there’s another (which was not so important) also got his. The older one, whom I prefer during the end of 2010, now already claimed his favourite. And now this.

By the way, this wonderful kid is actually my favourite. Apart from the fact that he reminds me of a dancer and he looks like a little fairytale prince, I don’t know why I still keep it for almost 2 years. Maybe there’s no reason, really.

But in the end, everything is alright. I feel way better now, eventhough I’m still in dilemma. I knew God would help me to face these problems. Alhamdulillah, thanks God! :D

I'm A Gemini!

"Ohh Gemini, setahu saya mereka genit!"

Reaksi gua: melotot. Gue sendiri bingung dan ketawa-tawa sendiri. Gue cuma "masa sih? masa sih?". Tapi yaa gue nggak masukkin hati, karena gue emang nggak pernah percaya sama zodiak. Paling buat seneng-senengan ajaa.

Nah gue merasa agak bangga, seneng gitu haha. Langsung senyum.

Gue sih tetep nggak percaya sama zodiak. Dan gue juga nggak bisa yakin kalo yang dibilang guru gue itu bener atau nggak. Tapi yang jelas, apa yang bu guru gue kasih tau itu, udah nambah motivasi di diri gue. Makasih ya bu! :D
