This is my final work.
Basically the project is to make a mapping based on our own experience in the Botanical Garden. So it's not literally a map that shows direction. It is more like how I perceive the garden and the situation around it. What I see, what I hear, what I smell and how do I feel.
Each of us came up with some terms during in the garden or while creating the mapping, such as "Experience", "Rough", "Colourful", "Chirping" and etc. These terms are then explained in our own words.
We should look at both the natural elements (which is the garden) and the man-made (the shops, etc). The picture above represents the man-made (left semi circle) and the natural (right semi circle) elements. So when you fold the map in a particular way, the semi circles become one circle.
We are supposed to be as creative as possible for this mapping. We are supposed to use a variety of materials to build it up. Photographs, drawing, collage, writings, fallen leaves, dead flowers, the garden's guide booklet are the things that I used.
It was such a fun project, because we really can do anything about it. I can be as crazy, as creative I wanna be. I can used any elements as long as it is relevant to the topic. The teacher once said, "There's no rules in this project. If there is, break it."
that sounds like a beautiful way of presenting the gardens to someone. :)
