"Admittedly, there was a lot she still didn't know about him, but she did know this: He completed her in a way that she'd never thought possible. Knowledge isn't everything, she told herself, and she knew then that, in Nana's words, he was the toast to her butter."
Another heart-warming with a touch of light tragedy story of Nicholas Sparks. For those Sparks fans, yes this book is another Sparks' typical love story. But yet, if you take a look closer to the detail, you'll find valuable messages behind it.
And I can't wait for the movie! Yes, it's going to be out in 2012 according to IMDb. Zac Efron will be playing as Logan Thibault. I know there's a lot of Zac's fans out there, waiting for the movie :p

Basically, the story is about a soldier named Logan Thibault who found a photograph of a woman in Kuwait. He kept the photograph during the war. And without any of his knowledge, the photo kept him safe. A friend of Thibault, Victor, said that the photograph is a lucky charm and that Thibault owed the woman in the photograph. At first, Thibault didn't believe it. Not until Victor died when he and Thibault were on a boat. And Thibault was safe.
So Thibault came along from Colorado to Hampton, to find the woman. Eventually, Thibault fell in love with her. He also became Elizabeth's (the woman in the photograph) friend. Thibault even became close to Ben, Elizabeth's (or Beth in short) son. Yes, Beth was a single mother. Unfortunately, her ex-husband, Keith Clayton, somehow still hope for Beth. And I'm not going to tell every detail. The point is, Clayton tried to separate Thibault from Beth.
I think, it's really creepy that Thibault made his journey just to meet Beth, because he owed her something. Yes the photograph kept him safe, but then it is creepy. And the problem is, Thibault did not tell Beth the truth. Not until the end of the story. And that makes Beth freaked out. That's normal. I would freak out.
When I was reading this book, I have so much hatred to Keith Clayton. Because he never showed his love to Ben, his own son. Well yes, they spent time together every weekend. But Ben never been happy when he's with Clayton. And Clayton never seemed to try to make Ben to like him. He once played baseball (or something, I forgot) with Ben. Ben got hit by the ball the Clayton threw. And he didn't seem to feel guilty at all. Clayton even chased away every man who date Beth. Which makes Beth single for years (not until Thibault came, though). So mean, right?
But in the end of the story, you'll know. That Clayton is not 100% bad. He risked his life for Ben's life.
Maybe Sparks wanted to tell that: every bad person has his good side, and every good person has his bad side. So no one is purely black or purely white. Every person is grey.
Another important thing is: no matter how good a person is, honesty is still a priority. You tell everything to a special person, meaning you trust him. But if you don't tell one small thing to that person, that means you might not trust him fully. Yes, in the book, it said that Thibault didn't tell Beth about the photograph because he didn't want Beth to think that Thibault's a creep. Which means (this is my personal thoughts) Thibault did not fully trust Beth. He was scared that Beth might want to run away from him, if he told. He didn't fully believe that Beth truly loved him.

Wits, I didn't know you like Nicholas Sparks :-D btw, follow me back dong! And I changed my URL too :-D
